About the Role- at 500 Industrial Court D1 shift (7am-7pm)- working every other weekend.
The Materials Processing Technician is responsible for responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment involved in pelletizing materials, ensuring quality and efficiency in the production process. This position will perform inspections, adjust machine settings, monitor operations, and document maintenance tasks, all while adhering to safety protocols.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Operate and troubleshoot assigned work centers with primary responsibility of overseeing the pelletizing extruder and up to four granulators.
• Ensure that pellets meet quality standards and specifications, including maintaining consistent size, density, and other parameters by performing regularquality checks.
• Maintain records of inspections, maintenance activities, and production data. Provide input into the daily Com Log.
• Setup, clean out, and operate pelletizing equipment.
• Setup, clean out, and operate granulators and shredders.
• Inspect materials at various points during the manufacturing process for quality.
• Perform scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance items.
• Perform PM and TPM schedules on assigned equipment.
• Observe machine gauges, adjust settings (like speed, pressure, and temperature) to maintain consistent production quality, and troubleshoot any issues. Adjust grinder and pelletizer parameters within set specifications to ensure correct operations; consult engineering or maintenance if larger adjustments are identified.
• Packaging, storage, and transportation of regrind and other raw materials.
• Proper use of the IQMS scan gun in the warehouse and through the plant.
• As business demands change, this position may be asked to assist on the production lines at Pipe.
What You Need:
• General education level found with high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must have strong math skills and mechanical skills.
• Must have the ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
• Ability to learn a wide variety of equipment and identify problem situations and have troubleshooting abilities to solve problems and make repairs, as necessary.
• Preferred proficiency in Operator Packer and beginner Operator Technician 1 job functions, shown by completion skill block checklists.
• Know how to use gauges and use statistical process controls.
• Needs strong attention to detail and mechanical skills to ensure that the product made is to the proper specifications and packaged according to the requirements.
• Basic computer skills. (IQMS, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Forklift certification & Valid driver’s license.
