Summary of Job Duties:

The Graduate Assistant for Community Engagement (CE) works within the Community Engagement Program under the Vice Chancellor for University Affairs. The person fulfilling this role will work towards engaging students and the community by providing indirect and direct engagement opportunities. They will work closely with professional staff, other graduate assistants, and student leaders. This position is responsible for assisting CE staff in developing programming, and community development outreach opportunities and providing operational and administrative support including developing an online marketing and promotion presence to increase visibility and engagement with the office. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;

  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;

  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance;

  • Ability to periodically attend evening and weekend meetings and events.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the CE staff in working with faculty and administration to focused on a specific social issue (e.g. hunger and homelessness, food justice, health equity);

  • Collaborate with CE staff to advise development of one large event committee each year with a focus on a specific social issue (TBD);

  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing and promotional material to increase visibility and raise awareness of the Community Engagement Program and the resources that it provides;

  • In collaboration with other Graduate Assistants, plan and develop volunteer and community engagement opportunities that align with the needs of University Departments and Programs that require students to have service hours or want t
