About the Role
The role of the Triage Nurse is to provide patients with medical instruction and professional education pertaining to urological issues. The triage nurse will work under the supervision of a licensed physician to give assistance in determining the urgency of care needed. The Triage Nurse position requires a highly organized individual who can safely manage more than one task at a time and move efficiently throughout varied responsibilities. The Triage Nurse must be able to work independently as well as interact as part of a team, consistently demonstrating respect and consideration to all callers phoning into the practice.
What You’ll Be Doing
Reschedules, cancels and confirms patient appointments.
Calls in prescriptions and authorizations for patients.
Communicates accurate post-op instructions to the patients and/or their caregivers.
Calls for x-ray results as well as schedules x-rays, CTs, ultrasounds, and scans; serves as a back-up to the testing scheduler.
Determines urgency of medical issues and give instruction if familiar with patient’s condition and situation.
Calls for authorizations on x-rays or instructs scheduler to do so.
Verifies new patient information and completes any missing information in patient’s chart.
Explains procedures, medications, and instructions to patients so that they are clearly understood.
Answers phone lines for all other nurses and directs any questions to the appropriate nurse or physician.
Assists nurses on the floor and performs other duties as assigned.
What We Expect from You
Graduate of an accredited RN or LPN Program
Current CPR certification
At least one (1) year of medical/surgical experience is preferred
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
