Job Description

This position exists to manage banking functions and banking relationships, assist with the University’s local checking account’s monthly bank reconciliation and escheatment processes, and to maintain records and complete reports on all Federal, State, and institutional financial aid programs at Minnesota State University, Mankato.  The position also provides a select range of accounting services related to the General Activity Account through both the G/L Accounting and Accounts Receivable modules of the Integrated Statewide Records System (ISRS). 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of technical accounting experience; a Bachelor’s Degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience, an Associates Degree may substitute for six (6) months experience.   
  • Thorough understanding of procedures relating to bank reconciliation and cash management processes.  
  • Ability to utilize various software programs, including, email, spreadsheets, word processing, database applications and web-based banking software.
  • Human relations skills and the ability to communicate effectively, in both written and oral form, are necessary in the daily association with both internal and external clientele. 
  • Thorough knowledge of established payroll policies and procedures.
  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural and other fiscal problems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • Knowledge of Minnesota State ISRS and Workday accounting system modules
  • Ability to interpret college fiscal policies.
  • Experience working in higher education environment
  • Experience with Minnesota Management and Budget’s SEMA4 system
  • Experience with Workday system
