Position Overview

The Victim Services Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the statewide Victim Services program, implementing policies, and conducting needs assessments. Key duties include notifying victims as mandated by law, managing staff performance, providing training, and developing educational materials for victims and the community. The manager also monitors compliance with procedural changes and stays informed about trends in victim services and the criminal justice system. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply

Essential Functions

• Serves as Victim Services Program Manager.
• Serves as working supervisor.
• Develops and distributes informative brochures and pamphlets on the Victim Services Program to educate and inform victims and witnesses, advocacy groups, public, victim service providers, and the media.
• Monitors regional staff providing services to victims.
• Travels to facilities to provide training to department staff as well as non-departmental victim service providers relative to victim issues, rights, services, legislative mandates, and related laws, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Specialized Skills

• Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience with victim services issues in Illinois, e.g., community organizations on children’s/victim’s rights, experience with task forces, knowledge of legislative process relative to children’s issues, and experience testifying at such hearings.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
• Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefers at least two (2) years of responsible administrative experience with victim services issues in Illinois, e.g., community organizations on children’s/victim’s rights, experience with task forces, knowledge of legislative process relative to children’s issues, and experience testifying at such hearings.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience supervising employees.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience organizing, planning, and evaluating a victim services program.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working within victim advocacy.
• Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working in relation to victim services with a state’s attorney’s office, law enforcement agencies, and/or othe
