Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE:
Direct all activities and oversee set up and operations on assigned packaging lines. Supervise those assigned to the packaging team. Drive performance and productivity of assigned shift. This position is a developmental position for a Production Supervisor Role.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Capable of performing all duties outlined for Packaging Line Technicians:
- Package product in bags, boxes, or bulk containers; label, and stack on pallets (must be able to lift to 50 pounds).
- Maintain product and packaging quality through visually inspecting finished product.
- Ensures product, bags, wraps, seals, boxes, and pallets meet highest quality standards.
- Immediately report all quality issues to the Production Supervisor.
- Participates in full facility and equipment clean-up between product runs, as directed.
- Assist Packaging Operators in machine set-ups.
- Assist in planning packaging sequence for maximum efficiency.
- Responsible for QA Data collection and calibrations.
- Ensure the required paperwork is accurate and complete. Complete simple production reports.
- Supervises Packaging Line Operators and Technicians; completes performance evaluations for team members; recommends disciplinary actions when required.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Anticipate technical problems and (when appropriate) proactively troubleshoots and makes technical adjustments and/or notifies maintenance.
- Work with maintenance and supervisor to identify potential line improvements.
- Participate in the first article of inspection to ensure food safety.
- Assist packaging operators with technical training/coaching of Packaging Line Technicians.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Alphia Business Systems as it relates to Position.
- Lead the packaging team to achieve daily, monthly, and annual production goals.

- Responsible for Maintaining a clean and organized work area and leaving a clean and organized with area for the following shift.
- Responsible for becoming familiar with GMP’s and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all products.
- Required to notify a supervisor or a lead employee of any situation or observation that may adversely affect food safety and/or quality.
- Other duties as required or directed.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required).
- Education level: high school diploma and/or GED required.
- Experience: Experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.
- Experience in leading teams or supervisory experience preferred.
- Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
- Basic math skills include addition, subtraction, and percentages.
- Ability to multi-task.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, walk, and move from place to place. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use foot/feet to operate machine, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or reach above shoulders. The employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch.
The employee must exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
