Job Description
 

Overview

The Warehouse Manager manages, oversees, and directs the centralized warehouse and operations performing purchasing, storage, inventory, and disbursement activities for multiple departmental requests; develops plans and directives, manages quality and accuracy in reporting, and ensures accuracy in purchasing, billing, and invoicing.

Essential Functions

1 Manages, oversees, and monitors warehouse daily operations and activities serving the aviation department, fleet services, and other City departments; delegates authority and responsibility for assigned tasks to subordinates; identifies needed areas of change or development and institutes changes to improve operations; plans, implements, coordinates, monitors compliance, and evaluates policies and procedures; monitors purchasing activities and ensures all regulations are met.

2 Establishes short-, mid- and long-term goals and objectives; develops and/or approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; ensures accountability and transparency in purchasing, storeroom management, inventory, and regulated equipment for the Department of Aviation.

3 Assists in the development, preparation, management, and implementation of procedures, purchasing standards, and delivery methods; reconciles inventory issues, evaluates storeroom activities, and identifies areas for potential growth and improvement.

4 Supervises, oversees, and directs the warehousing staff performing all storage, purchasing, and delivery activities for the department; evaluates performance and makes policy and procedural changes as necessary; responsible for the efficiency of operations, procurement activities, and billing for various services and departments.

5 Oversees, manages, and reviews complaint processing system for the administration and enforcement of agency regulations, policies and procedures; determines training needs of subordinates and provides development opportunities.

6 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of accounting, billing, budgeting, procurement, and storeroom management.

2 Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances, statutes and regulations

3 Ability to manage warehousing and storeroom activities for multiple items and high expense inventory.

4 Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of established goals.

5 Ability to provide administrative and professional supervision, leadership, and direction to subordinate staff

6 Ability to determine work procedures that expedite workflow, improve efficiency, and increase operational effectiveness.

7 Communicating effectively orally and in writing.

8 Establishing and maintaining effectively working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE
  • Five (5) years of experience in warehouse management, inventory control systems, budget preparation/review/analysis, financial management, or procurement of supplies and equipment.
AND
  • Two (2) years supervisory/lead work experience
EQUIVALENCIES
  • Associate degree plus three (3) years of experience in any of the stated areas above will qualify.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Forklift certification (Within 6-probationary period)
  • Valid Texas Driver License
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Availability to be on-call as needed.
  • Must pass background check.
