The Theoretical Relativity Group at Louisiana State University is offering a two-year postdoctoral position, with the possibility of appointment at the senior postdoctoral level, for a researcher specializing in the intersection of gravity and quantum information. As is common in the US, the initial appointment will be for one year and is renewable for a second year. A third-year renewal may be considered contingent on funding.
The core relativity group at LSU consists of Ivan Agullo, Steve Brandt, Peter Diener, Jorge Pullin, and Parampreet Singh, along with postdoctoral researchers and graduate students. The group is part of the Hearne Institute for Theoretical Physics, which hosts numerous researchers working on quantum information, condensed matter theory and analog gravity. Additionally, LSU has a strong experimental gravity group actively involved in LIGO, with the Livingston site located just 30 miles from Baton Rouge. LSU also hosts the Center for Computation & Technology (CCT), a multidisciplinary research center encompassing computational groups across various scientific, engineering, and humanities disciplines. Several members of the relativity group hold joint appointments at CCT.
The postdoctoral researcher will work on areas such as relativistic quantum information, quantum field theory in curved spacetime, analog gravity, cosmology, and/or quantum gravity. Responsibilities include research development, scientific paper writing, presenting talks at scientific meetings, and engaging in relevant local, state, national, and international developments in theoretical relativity physics. Senior postdoctoral researcher will mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Application deadline: December 31, 2024.
