Job Description: The Neuro-Technology Laboratory of the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases invites applications for a highly motivated Medical Scientist I to join our team focused on innovative research in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for the treatment of neurological diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, Tourette syndrome, and other disorders. This position is part of a close-knit team of world experts in the newly formed Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at the University of Florida. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and other team members to develop novel therapies for patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders. About This Role:- Perform work central to the development of data analysis pipelines, ensuring quality of data analysis and troubleshooting.
- Process medical images (MRI, DWI, CT), using open-source programs such as Seg3d, 3DSlicer, ANTS, or similar;
- Generation of brain tractography using DSI Studio, MRTrix, or similar;
- Generation of finite element meshes using SCIRun, COMSOL, or similar;
- Modeling and visualization using SCIRun, COMSOL, or similar.
- Data management and storage of human subjects’ data using Dropbox, XNAT, or similar.
- Contribute to projects that relate to our ongoing cutting-edge research directions, including finite element modeling, PET/MRI, MR diffusion imaging, CT, and visualization tools for neuroimaging.
- Develop new image processing and analysis pipelines.
- Ensure that UF and NIH policies are followed regarding the protection of human subjects' data and responsible conduct of research.
- Ensure compliance with data-sharing requirements from the funding agency. Format and upload data to public repositories such as DABI, OpenNeuro, or similar.

Expected Salary:$23.94 - $26.34 per hour
Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, medical engineering, biology or a closely related life science field.
Preferred Qualifications:- Degree(s) in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, medical imaging, applied mathematics or a related discipline.
