Job Description Summary

The Business Development Manager – Advanced Reactors and Short-Cycle Sales, Global Nuclear Fuel, is responsible for driving commercial growth through development of strategic opportunities aligned with the core fuel business. This role will lead business development efforts focused on advanced reactor fuel applications, emerging fuel opportunities from new reactor designs, and short-cycle commercial sales that expand market access, strengthen customer relationships, and position the business for long-term growth.
The Business Development Manager will identify, assess, and mature new business opportunities with existing and prospective customers, strategic partners, reactor developers, and industry stakeholders. The role requires close partnership with commercial, product management, engineering, operations, licensing, finance, and senior business leadership to shape growth strategy, build market insight, develop win plans, and translate strategic opportunities into executable commercial outcomes.
This role requires strong commercial acumen, customer engagement capability, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex and highly regulated nuclear industry environment.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead business development efforts for Global Nuclear Fuel related to advanced reactor fuel applications, emerging fuel opportunities from new reactor designs, and short-cycle commercial sales opportunities aligned with the core fuel business.

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize growth opportunities in advanced reactor fuel applications, adjacent fuel-related markets, and shorter-cycle commercial opportunities.

  • Develop and execute business development strategies to position the business for long-term growth in emerging nuclear markets while supporting near-term revenue opportunities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, reactor developers, strategic partners, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.

  • Serve as a commercial liaison for market engagement related to advanced reactor opportunities and fuel-related business expansion.

  • Partner with product management, engineering, licensing, operations, and finance teams to assess technical feasibility, commercial attractiveness, investment needs, and execution considerations for new opportunities.

  • Support development of business cases, growth strategies, market assessments, and strategic plans for targeted opportunities.

  • Lead customer and partner discussions related to early-stage opportunities, proposals, collaboration models, and growth initiatives.

  • Engage with the U.S. Government, including the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Laboratory complex, to identify, shape, and advance opportunities aligned with the Global Nuclear Fuel business strategy, including fuel technology development, advanced reactor applications, demonstration programs, and related collaborations.

  • Develop and maintain market intelligence on customer priorities, competitor activity, industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technology needs.

  • Translate market insights into actionable opportunity pipelines, strategic recommendations, and commercial actions.

  • Drive short-cycle sales opportunities by identifying customer needs, aligning internal resources, and advancing opportunities from initial engagement through offer development and closure.

  • Support proposal strategy, pricing alignment, negotiation planning, and commercial risk assessment in partnership with legal, finance, and commercial operations teams.

  • Represent the business externally at customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and trade associations to strengthen market presence and influence.

  • Provide regular updates to business leadership on pipeline development, market trends, key pursuits, risks, and growth priorities.

  • Ensure all business development activities are aligned with company values, compliance standards, export control requirements, and applicable regulatory expectations.

Minimum Qualifications / Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, commercial operations, sales, strategic marketing, product management, engineering, or related business leadership roles.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and managing complex commercial opportunities in industrial, technical, or highly regulated markets.
