Maintenance

General Purpose:  Provide general and preventive maintenance in food manufacturing industry equipment, and have basic knowledge of tools and equipment, and how to use them. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.

 

Qualifications  

Position responsibilities:  The Maintenance employee will be responsible for implementing a regular preventive maintenance program as well as solving daily maintenance issues.  All equipment will have a routine maintenance schedule.  Maintenance will also manage any breakdowns that may occur at the Plant.  Other responsibilities could and will at times be assigned by the supervisor.

Role qualifications:

• Lift and stack 50+ pounds
• Work at a fast pace for up to 3 hours at a time
• Facilities can be extremely hot or cold at times, so the employee must have the ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes
• Push and/or pull heavy objects
• Tolerate the sight of continuously moving objects
• The Position requires a full range of body motion, on a daily basis, including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and the ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles
• Walk up and down multiple flights of stairs multiple times daily
• Have no fear of heights
• Climb up and down ladders
• Be around chemicals for extended periods
• Must be able to stay focused on the task at hand

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Performs the preventive and reactive maintenance duties required for the manufacturing operations of the plant
• Understanding basic machine function and the Sequence of Operations of production machinery
• Troubleshoot and perform repairs on machines
• Contact, specify, and order replacement parts & control components from Supply Manager
• Be dependable and honest
• Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
• Strong team player/Work with Production Staff to ensure the safe and reliable operation of plant equipment
• Commitment to company values
• Follow all safety rules and procedures
• Operate or be trained to operate a forklift
• Be able to work overtime (including weekends)
• Have no fear of heights
• Must have computer skills
• Lock Out Tag Out Safety procedures
• Ability to use multi meter to safely test high & low voltages.

Physical demands:  While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop.  Employee must occasionally lift and or move up to or more 50 pounds.  Employee must be able to walk up and down flights of stairs multiple times a day.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent to the time.  The employee will be working dusty environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to load.
