Data Engineering Intern

Arbol is a global climate risk coverage platform and FinTech company offering full-service solutions for any business looking to analyze and mitigate exposure to climate risk. Arbol’s products offer parametric coverage which pays out based on objective data  triggers rather than subjective assessment of loss. This ecosystem includes a massive climate data infrastructure, scalable product development, automated, instant pricing using an artificial intelligence underwriter, blockchain-powered operational efficiencies, and non-traditional risk capacity bringing capital from non-insurance sources. By combining all these factors, Arbol brings scale, transparency, and efficiency to parametric coverage.
Arbol is seeking a data engineering summer intern. The bulk of this role is integrating various data pipelines into Arbol's existing data architecture. Past experience using external data APIs, FTP servers, or web scraping is a big plus. Both solid object-oriented programming skills and a familiarity with Python are musts for this role.
We are looking for a candidate to begin this internship sometime between mid-May to early June, and conclude at the beginning of August.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software engineering, computer science, or mathematics curricula.
• Must be pursuing a computer science, math, or relevant degree
• Familiarity with Python
• Familiarity and proficiency with Git
• An active interest in climate, energy, and financial data
• Proficiency with text and data manipulation
• Strong communication skills.

What's Great to Have

• Experience with pandas, xarray, numpy, and tensorflow
• Experience with Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS)
• Experience xwith S3, AWS, and s3fs
