Job Description

Packaging Machine Operator - Day Shift

• Hourly Pay Rate: $17.00+ DOE + $0.50/hr wage increase eligible after 90 days

Responsible for the coordination of jobs in the Checkfolio Packaging Printing process. Responsible for completing job assignments, planning and scheduling work, making production and/or service-related decisions, and taking action on problems. Jointly responsible for whole work processes, performing multiple tasks, and setting staffing plans and production goals for the current day with other team members. Provides information to other team members during shift overlap to improve overall plant performance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate the packaging system monitoring overall performance, efficiency and quality.
• Perform equipment start-up, shut-down and preventive maintenance.
• Sample and monitor product quality coming off the system, making modifications as needed.
• Troubleshoot packaging system performance and quality problems, correcting them and stabilizing performance as they occur.
• Replenish materials ongoing as materials are depleted.
• Maintains production, efficiency and quality records related to the packaging system operation.
• Other duties as assigned.  This job description describes one skill (or part of a skill) within a multi-skilled production team member job.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)

EXPERIENCE

• Entry level position. Previous production experience preferred. Experience with operating a computer (mouse and keyboard) preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Must be flexible and have the ability to work overtime and cover other shifts, sometimes on short notice.

COMMUNICATION AND CONTACTS

Position is relatively independent. Interacts with others in work unit. Limited interaction with vendors and/or visitors. Communication is mainly with other workers and plant leadership. Communication from position is primarily verbal. Written communication from position may include completing production sheets. Position includes participation in a team business meetings, which may include both verbal and written communication.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Manufacturing. Regular standing, kneeling, bending, walking, and stooping. Position may require lifting up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and 70 lbs. on occasion.
• Must be able to stand for 12 hour shifts
