JOB DESCRIPTION:

The HR Generalist serves as a member of Leman Academy of Excellence to help meet the needs of the community of the school, both in Arizona and Colorado. The HR Generalist serves the campus leadership and general operations by assuring compliance in all aspects of the organization.

Line of Authority/Reports to: The Human Resources Generalist shall be directly responsible to the Director of Human Resources and will work closely with Staff to ensure the smooth, efficient operation of the K-8 school.


SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including, but not limited to, staff recruiting, onboarding, and hiring, as well as enforcing company policies and practices. 


QUALIFICATIONS/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's Degree (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field (Preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years experience with human resources or recruiting (Preferred)
  • AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  • Valid AZ Driver’s License (Minimal Travel Required)
  • Candidate sourcing and relationship building skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking skills required.
  • Confidentiality and discretion in the performance of all duties and responsibilities
  • Time management and time critical prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of Payroll and HRIS systems
  • Knowledge of typical business correspondence (grammar, structure, punctuation, spelling, etc.) at a proficient level
  • Knowledge of FMLA/leave administration, performance management, unemployment and workers' compensation claims, and employee relations
  • Knowledge of Human Resource and administrative policies and procedures
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of employees and managers. Strong persuasion and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Must be detail-oriented and meticulously organized, with excellent follow- through and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Google Suite at a proficient level


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be willing to learn or have experience working with multi-state schools.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies/contracts and helping resolve employee benefit issues.
  • Assist with preparing and conducting new employee orientations, offers, onboarding, off boarding, I9 compliance, 401k compliance and management.
  • Assist with Workers Compensation claims
  • Maintain Fingerprint and School Compliance
  • System usage preference; Paylocity, Synergy SIS, United Healthcare, CheckR
  • Charter School or School District Experience Preferred
  • Contract Management and Salary negotiations
  • Offer letters and retention strategy experience
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process.
  • Facilitates contacts by creating and maintaining a presence in the education industry, community, and marketplace.
  • Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Assists with job posting and advertising processes.
  • Screens applications and selects qualified candidates.
  • Preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
  • Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Consults data and records to identify and select potential candidates for vacant positions.
  • Checks candidates references and credentials, verifying experience and backgrounds.
  • Organizes and attends job fairs, campus events, and other networking opportunities; runs company booth at job fairs.
  • Position will require travel to job fairs, campus events, and other networking events.
  • Follows up with hiring managers after the interview process to determine whether a placement can be made; collects feedback when placement is unsuccessful.
