Senior Engineering Manager

Overview 

As a Senior Engineering Manager - Platform at Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG), you are here to help build out our Platform Engineering team. This role reports to our Director of Platform Engineering and is responsible for defining, implementing, training, and executing against our engineering strategy, creating processes, and building tools within Fanatics Betting and Gaming.  The Engineering Manager will have a broad scope of engagement with cloud technologies, site reliability practices, and CI/CD tooling. The Platform Engineering team is responsible for building and maintaining the internal developer platform that powers innovation at the Fanatics Betting & Gaming engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team responsible for developing and supporting software that is functional and robust to provide an awesome developer experience.
• Manage a scalable release pipeline that aligns with GitOps principles.
• Provide leadership and technical expertise within the engineering vertical.  Build a team that will deliver software while adhering (and contributing) to engineering best practices. 
• Contribute to developer experience at Fanatics Betting & Gaming by building enablement frameworks; empowering teams to create, own, and operate reliable services; and responding to system disruptions.
• Provide the vision to the Platform Engineering team, drive technical excellence, and partner with key partners to prioritize & deliver on our roadmap.
• In partnership with key stakeholders, provide hands-on oversight when required for successful deployments of our core product experiences.
• Communicate, develop, and implement a data-driven engineering strategy, approach, and roadmap for Engineering needs.
• Build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders, inside and outside of Engineering, and collaborate with leaders to gather and present testing metrics and activities.
• Provide clear updates (KPIs, status, metrics) to an executive audience and key stakeholders.
• Remain current on technology and trends in platform engineering.
• Must be open to occasional travel to Fanatics Betting & Gaming offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.

Required Qualifications 

• 10+ years of experience in technical / engineering industries.
• 5+ years managing engineering teams
• Experience with Python is preferred. Familiarity with Go, Java, and Kotlin is a bonus.
• Experience with observability tooling, chaos testing, and incident management.
• Experience implementing and maintaining mature CI/CD release pipelines.
• Experience in a cloud-native environment is strongly preferred.
• Are a strong proponent of Agile software methodologies and architectural best practices.
• Experience formulating a team's technical strategy and roadmap; you've collaborated and partnered effectively with several other teams to execute on shared goals.
• Understand how to balance tactical needs with strategic growth and quality-based initiatives that can span multiple quarters.
• Demonstrated ability to lead the development of complex solutions for scale.
• Positive and flexible attitude to work in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to embrace new initiatives.  Experience in start-ups is a plus.   
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Highly outcome-oriented and data-driven.
• Excellent influencing and problem-resolution skills.
• Experience managing remote teams is strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a cloud-native environment is preferred
• Global experience preferred
• Experience with software compliance workflows is a bonus
