We are a community catalyst for meaningful change and the advocate for shaping vital impact through quality services responding to the critical needs of survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence. YWCA SHR works across racial, gender, religious and social lines with organizations-partners in all sectors to educate about disparities, advocate for change and provide resources and tools to dismantle oppressive systems.
YWCA SHR is in the midst of a rapid transformation from a well-established direct service provider for women and families facing crisis to an organization working at the intersection of eliminating racism, empowering women and standing up for social justice, helping families and strengthening our community.
About the Position
This position is designed to oversee fundraising tasks of YWCA SHR. Under the supervision of the CEO, the Director of Development serves on the CEO’s senior leadership team and provides strategic leadership in financial development to advance the YWCAs mission through annual giving, government and foundation grants, endowment bequests and gifts and capital campaigns. The ideal candidate will establish and execute forward-thinking fundraising and strategic programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Strategy and Planning
- Collaborate with the CEO to create a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization
- Implement the fund development plans in accordance with ethical fundraising principles
- Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary
- Leverages YWCA-SHR unique assets and mission to build and go beyond traditional fundraising models and embraces new approaches to partnership and engagement that will expand advancement opportunities
- Use data analytics to forecast, prospect and expand donor engagement
Development
- Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner
- Develop policies and procedures for the development department which reflect ethical fundraising practices
- Prepare and submit grant applications as outlined in the fund development plan to generate funds for the organization
- Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events as specified in the fund development plan to generate funds for the organization
- Identify and develop corporate, community and individual prospects for the organization's fundraising priorities
- Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information
- Coordinate in-kind donations and make decisions regarding the issuing of receipts
- Develop and gain approval for an annual income and expenditure budget for the fund development program
- Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditure related to fundraising and the management of the fund development activities
Supervision
- In consultation with Human Resources, recruit, interview, and select well qualified fund development staff
- Engage volunteers for special fund development projects using established volunteer management practices

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or exceptional experience in business/corporate/community development/partnerships
- Three to five years’ experience in non-profit fundraising with donors, grantors, and corporations or building relationships/p[partnerships in community
- Track record of collaborative leadership with experience serving as a mentor, motivator and coach to manage staff
