Design Architect, Cyber Security

A Design Architect (DA) within Design Engineering has an expertise in one or more technical architectures supporting the management of the offer portfolio and service catalog as well as aligning to the field supporting Red River account teams on qualified opportunities. Design Architects are current on industry topics including trends, philosophies, and the resulting architectures. They represent Red River as the industry subject matter expert on customer opportunities aligned with the account direction of the Customer Solution Architect or Customer Solution Engineer to help determine project scope, technical specifications and requirements. The DA serves as a technical authority and is experienced in translating client business needs into technology solutions. This position also works with the sales teams in support of the technology and services roadmap aligned to their architecture expertise. They also achieve and maintain OEM certifications in their area of expertise in order to maintain proficiency and support channel programs and serve as mentors to less experienced engineers and provide technical leadership for internal initiatives.
Primary Position Tasks:
- Field sales opportunity leadership and ownership aligned to area of expertise
- Evaluating new products and technologies
- Architecting and development of cyber-OEM and multi-vendor labs
- Offer and Service Development
- Subject matter expert in one or more architectures
- Provide technical services in the form of design, assessment and analysis
- Field training and enablement guidance
- Develop additional technical and professional skills through career-track curriculum and self-learning experiences
- Strategic relationship building with OEM’s within area of focus
- Provide support and leadership working with the Services organization in handoff process, best practices, and research
- SME on Cybersecurity related RFI’s, RFP’s and cyber-OEM related architecture and whitepapers
- Other business duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 15 years of work experience
- 5 years of presales engineering experience
- Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify to obtain a Secret Clearance
- Active and verified professional level of OEM certifications
Candidate should have experience with:
Network Security Expertise:
- An in-depth knowledge of NGFW and associated security subscriptions
- Platform knowledge of Physical and Virtual
Endpoint Detection and Response:
- Ability to design and implement XDR strategies that integrate seamlessly with network security infrastructure
Cloud Security Expertise:
- Understanding cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and how Palo Alto Networks' Prisma Cloud solutions integrate.
- Ability to design secure cloud networking solutions, including segmentation, workload protection, and compliance.
Zero Trust Architecture:
- Proficiency in designing and implementing Zero Trust security models.
- Understanding of how to leverage Palo Alto Networks' technologies to enforce least-privilege access and continuous verification.
Secure Access Service Edge (SASE):
- Expertise designing and deploying SASE solutions using Palo Alto Networks' Prisma SASE platform.
Automation and Orchestration:
- Knowledge of tools and techniques for security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR).
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
- Must have expertise with Cisco and Palo Alto Networks products
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to translate client needs into technical solutions
- Proficiency in Office 365
- Proficiency in vendor specific tools related to the area of expertise
Essential Elements (Mental; Physical; Equipment used):
- This position is an office position that requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the workday.
- This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment.
Special Requirements:
- Work location varies. Travel varies and can be up to 40% depending on work location.
- A passport is required as a condition of employment.
- Fluent in English and comfortable communicating verbally and in writing with customers and project personnel.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- A valid US Driver’s license is required.
