Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic 4 to join our diverse team of professionals located out of Edwards, CA.
Job Description
- The GSE Mechanic will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to include in-depth repair as required on powered and non-powered ground support equipment.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on special purpose vehicles, GEM carts, and forklifts.
- Reviews maintenance records of periodic maintenance to ensure equipment is fully operational in support of daily equipment requirements.
- Uses an assortment of basic hand tools in addition to precision measuring devices for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Works from complex written instructions such as formal test specifications, blueprints, drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- May instruct lower-level mechanics in technical aspects of Ground Support equipment work. Exercises appropriate safety measures.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and at least 6 years of related military / professional experience.
- Must have previous GSE Mechanic Experience.
- Must be able to perform moderately strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead, and accessing small, confined spaces.
- Must be able to pass a physical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.
- Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.
- Must have and maintain a valid U.S. passport.
- Must be able to accept customer furnished quarters for a period up to 120 days away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.
- Must meet medical requirements to include applicable vaccinations for worldwide travel.
- Must have an active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
- Must have the ability to obtain and maitain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with aerospace industry.
- Top Secret clearance.
