Regular Faculty work under the direction of their respective Associate Dean/Division Dean and are responsible for meeting all scheduled classes/labs/clinics and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College and the Department Chair's approved course outline. Regular Faculty are also responsible for using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course.
Regular Faculty are required to serve a provisional period from the date of employment until the completion of employment under three consecutive full year regular contracts.
This position may require working in virtual, weekend, evening, or various campus locations. Successful candidate must be willing to teach concurrent enrollment both on PPSC campuses and in local area high schools.
The PPSC Dental Center is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with the latest equipment and simulation technology to be the state leader in modern dental hygiene and dental assisting education. The Dental Hygiene Program is being developed and the full-time faculty, in collaboration with the Dental Center Director, will be an integral leader for the inaugural cohort of dental hygiene students expected to matriculate in May 2025 and subsequent faculty/instructor hires. Consistent with the Dental Hygiene Program values of community built on learning, mutual respect, and diversity, the candidate should demonstrate strong skills in team building and collaboration across the dental and health sciences disciplines. The ideal candidate will be a welcoming and enthusiastic individual focused on student success by incorporating an innovative teaching approach.
The required teaching schedule is August to May. The required pay schedule is September to August.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of a CODA accredited dental hygiene program.
- Completed bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene or related field.
- Current Colorado Dental Hygiene license, or current RDH license in another state with eligibility to acquire Colorado RDH license.
- Current Colorado Local Anesthesia Permit or eligibility to acquire the permit.
- Diode Laser certification through an accredited organization.
- Two years of full-time or equivalent clinical dental hygiene experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong proficiency in various dental related technologies and software.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Colorado Career and Technical Education Teaching Credential.
- Demonstrated ability to work with underrepresented populations in successful efforts to close the achievement gap.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed master's degree in a related field.
- One or more years of clinical or didactic teaching experience in dental hygiene.
- Experience in curriculum design and mapping or instructional design.
- Documented background in current educational methodology concepts in higher education.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish.
