About the role

Nature and Scope

Under direct supervision of the Dentist, the Dental Assistant will prepare patients for examination or treatment and make sure that the patients are relaxed and comfortable.  Assures that all needed supplies, instruments and equipment are ready.  May also do clerical duties such as making appointments, case record maintenance, billing and payment functions, and handle patient’s dental insurance.

We are located at 1065 Bucks Lake Road, Quincy, CA 95971.

 

Compensation

Compensation Philosophy:

  • We have 13 pay increments on our clinical pay scales to compensate staff for 30 years of relevant experience. 

Compensation Range:

  • $22.10 - $ 31.51 / hour

Full-time 

 

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Current CPR card required.
  • CA Dental Board Approved Radiation Safety Certification, Infection Control Certification, and CA Dental Practice Act Certification are all required; or willing to enroll in program with completion date set.
  • Must be willing to obtain Infection Control certification within first 12 months of employment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients.
  • Knowledge of current dental assistant practices and procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of alphabetical filing system.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of verbal and English comprehension and expression to communicate clearly with callers, visitors and staff.
  • Must be able to perform simple addition and subtraction, and read and copy numbers accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and prepares dental clinic operatory for each patient visit. (i.e. Cleans and sterilizes instruments; lubricates hand pieces; ensures asepsis; ensures supplies on hand and organized.
  • Manages patient flow. (i.e. greets patients, escorts to treatment area; advises reception staff at times to accept emergency patients; escorts patients to billing/rescheduling area)
  • Prepares patients for dental procedures. (i.e. drapes patient appropriately for procedures to be done; ensures instruments and supplies are ready for procedure)
  • Assists Dentist at chairside. (i.e. Mixing compounds for fillings; manipulating a suction instrument to keep the patient’s mouth clear; handing instruments to the dentist.)
  • Ensures proper disposal of biohazardous materials.

Child Care:

  • PDH is thrilled to provide our Child Care Center services to all families in our area. Our program is operational from 7:45am to 5:15pm, Monday through Friday, and is approved for children aged 0 to 5 years.
