The Department of Economics and Business at Colorado School of Mines is seeking a highly organized, proactive Administrative Assistant III to serve as the operational hub of our department.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their workday and takes pride in creating efficient processes, supporting faculty and students, managing complex administrative functions, and helping deliver successful department programs and events. You will be a key resource for faculty, staff, students, visitors, and campus partners, ensuring the department's day-to-day operations run smoothly and effectively.

What You'll Do
Office & Operational Coordination (55%)

As the department's primary administrative professional, you will coordinate and support a wide variety of operational activities that enable faculty, staff, and students to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Coordinate office operations, administrative processes, and departmental workflows.
  • Manage calendars, meeting logistics, conference room scheduling, and shared department spaces.
  • Coordinate faculty, staff, student, and visitor travel arrangements and reimbursements.
  • Maintain departmental records, databases, communications, and websites.
  • Process purchasing, supply orders, expense reports, and other administrative transactions.
  • Assist with faculty searches and onboarding activities.
  • Coordinate communication efforts, including newsletters, announcements, marketing materials, and social media content.
  • Maintain departmental facilities, common spaces, office supplies, and operational resources.
  • Support department leadership with special projects, reporting, and administrative initiatives.

This position requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy and highly collaborative environment.

Event & Program Coordination (35%)

In addition to administrative operations, you will support a variety of departmental events throughout the academic year.
