Prototype Build Engineer

Meta is seeking an experienced Prototype Build Engineer to join our team. As a Prototype Build Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the execution of prototype builds from concept through delivery, working closely with internal and external partners to ensure successful outcomes.<br/><br/><strong>Responsibilities</strong><br/>Partner with internal teams and vendors to plan and manage operational resources required to execute prototype builds<br/>* Collaborate with Research Engineers to deliver prototypes as requested<br/>* Resolve schedule setbacks by developing and implementing recovery plans<br/>* Work with program management to ensure the assembly flow is properly supported across functions to deliver material and hardware on schedule<br/>* Provide program status updates and risk assessments to management to support short- and long-term goals<br/>* Communicate prototype build plans across multiple programs<br/>* Establish and drive a clear plan and path forward for executing prototype builds successfully, including:<br/>* Defining scope, timelines, and resource requirements<br/>* Identifying and mitigating risks and dependencies<br/>* Developing and maintaining detailed schedules, milestones, and build plans<br/>* Coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and collaboration<br/>* Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards<br/>* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, and internal teams<br/>* Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness<br/><br/><strong>Qualifications</strong><br/>BS degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience<br/>* 5+ years of experience with consumer electronic products<br/>* 2+ years of experience with hardware development cycles and sustaining hardware<br/>* 2+ years of experience in manufacturing assembly and test development<br/>* Experience leading engineers and technicians in daily work and building teams Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)<br/>* MS degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience<br/>* Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)<br/>* Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies<br/>* Experience building cross-functional relationships<br/>* Experience with optical and electro-mechanical systems<br/>* Experience optimizing designs for existing products or devices
