I - Job Purpose and Summary:

  

A  Maintenance technician will have demonstrated, or may be hired in with proof of a talent, work background, education, or training in industrial maintenance, or education and experience in one of the following typical disciplines; maintenance worker, electrician, electro-mechanical technician,  electronics technician, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, systems integration, etc.


II - Key Accountabilities: 

1. HSE: Promote a safe work environment at all times through the adherence to all PGP’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as to all relevant regulations in order to achieve ZERO workplace incidents and injuries.  

 

2. QA & FOOD SAFETY: Ensure compliance with rigorous standards of food safety, quality, legality, and authenticity, playing a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards throughout the entire food production process.

 

3. Perform work to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of the company’s facilities in repair. General duties will include or may involve installation and maintenance of the wiring, fuses, and all other components through which electricity flows. Install and maintain all machines in the plant. Repairing electrical and mechanical equipment. Assist in other projects that the maintenance group or plant may need such as pipe fitting; boiler making (pressure vessel maintenance, repair, and operation);   insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; HVAC repairs; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, walls, stairs, etc. 

 

4. May repair motors, transformers, generators, and electronic controllers on machine tools and industrial robots as qualified. Will advise management whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. When working with complex electronic devices, may consult with engineers, engineering technicians, line installers and repairers, or industrial machinery mechanics and other maintenance workers. 

 

5. Read and use technical manuals, with an understanding of the equipment, and careful observation to discover the causes of problems; and often follow blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering specifications or using catalogs, to order replacement parts to maintain the equipment and/or fix the problem. Read and  follow diagrams that show the locations of circuits, outlets, load centers,  panel boards, and other equipment. To ensure safety, following the National Electrical Code, and State and local building codes.

 

6. Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand and power tools to examine parts for defects; and replace defective parts where needed. 

 

7. Will use hand tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, and wire strippers, as well as power tools such as drills and saws. Along with ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other equipment for test, measure, and diagnose of connections and ensure the compatibility and safety of components.

 

8. Must possess tools appropriate for industrial maintenance role.

External:  Contractors and sub-contractors as needed

Requirements

IV - Job Requirements (Required and Preferred):

Education 

· Minimum;  High School Diploma or GED, and a mechanical ability. Testing may be conducted. 


Related   Experience

· Preferred: A combination of specific specialty training (Maintenance Engineering, Millwright Training, and electrical or mechanical On The Job experience of at least 5 years).

 

Competencies

· Good knowledge of Electricity and Electronics, familiarity and awareness of Circuit boards, Process Controllers, Programmable Logic Controllers, electronic test equipment, and Process Computing hardware and software are desired. 

· Reading, writing, math, reasoning, analyzing, ability to learn, open to changes. Required for test, measurement, and diagnosis for repair or fabrication within the job scope of work requirements.
