Matrix Providers is hiring a Medical Assistant / Admin to assist practitioners who provide one-time, non-treatment Veteran Disability Exams at Pearl City, HI.

  • Employment Status: Full Time
  • Compensation: This is a hourly, paid bi-weekly.
  • Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (Female required for job role)

The Medical Assistant/Admin must have the following qualifications:

  • Female only required for this job role. "When a patient is seen by a Medical Assistant/ Admin, the Pearl City, HI facility provides the patient with the option for either a male Medical Assistant/Admin or female Medical Assistant, according to what will make the patient most comfortable during a sensitive examination or procedure. Pearl City, HI facility therefore must provide patients with access to both male and female Medical Assistant/Admin to facilitate patient choice. This posting is specifically for a Female Medical Assistant / Admin, which will allow Pearl City, HI facility to fulfill its female Medical Assistant / Admin staffing needs.
  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills.
  • Ability to use computer applications, answer telephones, greet patients, arrange x-rays/labs/ECHO services, follow up on testing results, and manage office and medical supplies
  • Prior VA or compensation exam experience is a plus, but not required.

Medical Assistant/Admin Duties:

  • Unlock doors to the building or suite / Turn on the TV in the lobby/waiting area.
  • Make coffee first thing in the morning and a fresh pot of coffee by noon (non-COVID direction).
  • Print out the weekly schedule if desired. View daily in Provider Portal.
  • Greet veterans with a smile / Check ID / Check-In veterans for their appointments.
  • Check the schedule to make sure the veteran is being seen on the correct appointment date.
  • Make copies of veterans’ documents for practitioners.
  • Skype / Let practitioners know when veterans have arrived for their appointments.
  • If a veteran has questions about their exam or appointment look up the information.
  • Give directions to veterans on how to get to the site.
  • Answer the phone and take all messages.
  • Call veterans regarding short notice cancellations (practitioner out sick, etc.).
  • Communicate with all practitioners about weekly schedules and cancellations daily.
  • When a veteran has a complaint, see if it’s something you can resolve on your own or give the veteran LHI customer service number / call your manager to let them know what’s going on.
  • Check emails throughout the day for any office updates/reminders, process changes, etc. Communicate information to staff as needed.
  • Shred documents as needed.
  • Fax diagnostic forms and medical documents to LHI Records Management.
  • Check your inventory before the end of the month to order what your building/practitioner (s) need(s).
  • Restock supplies in exam rooms as needed or as requested by practitioners.
  • Keep up with the inventory sheet to make sure you have received all items / always confirm you have received your items with VS Facilities.
  • Keep maintenance & Facilities Manager in the know if anything needs to be fixed or replaced – do NOT attempt to fix/replace on your own unless specifically directed to do so by the Facilities Manager.
  • Contact Market Manager or Scheduling about any issues with veteran's schedules/cancellation/wrong information about a veteran/days you may need off.
  • If veterans ask for a copy of VA Exams, direct all veterans to their local VA. Please let them know it will take up to a few weeks or probably a month before the veteran can get a copy.
  • If veterans have questions or concerns about their VA Exam, direct them to their local VA or advise them to please contact LHI Customer Service.
