Position Description:
SCTCC is seeking a passionate Culinary Arts Instructor to join our faculty starting in the Fall of 2025 (August 20, 2025). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the culinary industry, a commitment to student success, and the ability to teach a variety of courses related to culinary arts, food preparation, kitchen management, and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging coursework in culinary arts, including hands-on lab instruction.
- Teach fundamental and advanced culinary techniques, food safety, menu planning, nutrition, and kitchen management.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students pursuing careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.
- Maintain an organized and sanitary teaching kitchen, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance program offerings and student learning outcomes.
- Assist in curriculum development and program assessment to align with industry trends.
- Participate in college-wide activities, department meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement
•Associate Degree in Culinary Arts
Occupational Experience Requirement
• Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in commercial food preparation.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, preferably at a two-year college
- Prior on-line experience using D2L Brightspace platform or equivalent information management system
- Demonstrated commitment to quality instruction and continuous improvement
- Ability to work with a diverse student body with a broad range of interests and abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and peers
- Experience in curriculum development at the professional nursing level
- Effective planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Other Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
