Overview

The Landscaping Crew Member is responsible for assisting with daily upkeep of grounds and appearance of our park by performing a wide variety of landscaping and grounds duties at Fair Park, our venue and public park.

 

This role will pay a salary of $18.24.

About the Venue

Fair Park is a multi-venue complex that sits on 277 ares, is a public park, located in South Dallas, just off the freeway, a couple of miles south of downtown.  We are home to 7 cultural institutions, the iconic Cotton Bowl, the State Fair of Texas, Music Hall, an outdoor amphitheatre, childrens museum and more.  We host several hundreds of events during the year and are also the largest collection of Art Deco Architecture and also designated as a National Historical Landmark.

Responsibilities

  • Perform landscaping duties such as mowing, edging, trimming, aerating, top dressing, laying down sod and mulch, planting flowers, cleaning up debris, digging, blowing leaves, pulling weeds, watering plants, etc.
  • Using hand tools, etc., used to perform landscaping duties
  • Loading and unloading equipment, tools, materials and debris, clear sidewalks, driveways and parking lots
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment
  • Follow company safety procedures, etc.
  • May assist in minor exterior repairs as needed
  • Provide customer service assistance to internal and external clients
  • Practice consistent dependability, attendance and adheres to work schedule as given
  • Clear and timely communicate work issues with supervisor and staff
  • Assist with other event and operational tasks as needed to help the overall success of the park

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Must have a minimum of previous landscaping and related work experience
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software, general computer understanding of basic IT functions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have availability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays if needed
  • Solid problem solving skills
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background and drug test
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and show initiative
  • Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures
  • Must be able to work in the elements, outdoors
  • Able to demonstrate good attendance record
  • Must be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation
  • Possession of valid driver license is preferred
