General Notes

This position will end effective one year from start date. Subsequent annual renewal of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding. 

Purpose

The applicant will perform experiments and data analyses to understand the pathogenesis of retroviruses and their antagonism of the immune response. The position also will apply our basic knowledge of retroviruses to develop more specific and targeted treatments for human breast cancers and tested using mouse models.

Responsibilities 

  • Perform molecular biology and virology experiments.

  • Assist with mouse husbandry and inoculations.

  • Do experimental planning, data analyses, and oral/written presentations.

  • Perform laboratory support functions, such as supply ordering.

 

Required Qualifications 

BS degree with experience in molecular biology experiments, particularly molecular cloning and mammalian cell culture.  References are required. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

Prefer applicants with an MS degree in microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related discipline.  Prior experience with mice, molecular cloning, Western blotting, retroviruses, microscopy, fluorescence-activated cell sorting, nucleic acid extractions, PCR, transfections, protein expression, and bioinformatics is a plus. 

 

Salary Range 

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
