About the role

Wilkes University invites applicants for an Assistant Director role in the Undergraduate Admissions Office. This position reports directly to the senior assistant directors of undergraduate admissions, and will also work collaboratively with other university staff, faculty, and current students to support the mission and goals of the University and the undergraduate admissions office directly.

The successful candidate will be directly responsible for all recruitment activities associated with the enrollment of first-year students to provide and enhance enrollment activities from an assigned market. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acquire in-depth knowledge about the University, admissions processes, and financial aid.
  • Manage correspondence and direct interaction (phone call, text message, email, in-person) with constituencies, including prospective and current students, families, guidance counselors, community-based organizations, and other professionals.
  • Develop and execute phone communication plans to recruit and assist prospective students through admissions, meeting weekly call goals.
  • Participate in high school visits and college fairs, including full travel during the fall semester and some in the spring semester.
  • Territory management within designated geographic areas; territory analysis, decision making, and planning; maintaining existing and fostering new relationships; developing strategy for territory development. Report on travel productivity and expenses and meet travel goals.
  • Review and evaluate applications to recommend admissions decisions.
  • Conducted campus interviews, information sessions, and small/large group presentations; required attendance at on- and off-campus admissions-related events.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work activity.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Prior experience in college admissions/recruiting, or possess a sales or marketing background.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including public speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency with Slate CRM preferred.
  • Commitment to working flexible hours to meet office needs and goals.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends is required.
  • Ability to work as a team member and as an independent.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Commitment to diversity and sensitivity to the needs of educationally and economically disadvantaged students.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
