Senior Director of Visualization

Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Director of Visualization to join McKesson Technology organization and lead the strategic vision for enterprise business intelligence, data visualization, and analytics governance across our global operations. This senior management role will oversee our comprehensive BI ecosystem encompassing Microsoft PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, QlikSense, and Alation, while driving data democratization initiatives that empower 50,000+ employees with self-service analytics capabilities. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in modern BI platforms with proven leadership in scaling enterprise visualization programs that deliver measurable business impact across multiple business units and geographic regions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic BI & Analytics Leadership

• Define and execute enterprise-wide visualization and business intelligence strategy aligned with corporate digital transformation objectives
• Partner with executives, business unit leaders, and functional stakeholders to establish data-driven decision-making culture across the organization
• Drive multi-platform BI strategy optimizing PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, and QlikSense capabilities to serve diverse analytical needs and user personas
• Establish enterprise analytics governance framework ensuring consistent data storytelling, visualization standards, and self-service enablement

Enterprise BI Platform Excellence

• Lead strategic optimization of Microsoft PowerBI ecosystem including Premium capacity planning, embedded analytics, and enterprise deployment across 50,000+ users
• Oversee Looker platform development for modern cloud-native analytics, and embedded business intelligence capabilities
• Manage Tableau enterprise deployment including Server/Cloud optimization, advanced analytics integration, and performance at scale
• Optimize QlikSense associative analytics platform for complex business discovery and interactive dashboard experiences
• Leverage Alation data catalog for enterprise data governance, data discovery, and collaborative analytics across all BI platforms

Data Governance & Democratization

• Establish comprehensive data governance framework through Alation platform ensuring data lineage, quality, and trusted analytics across enterprise
• Drive self-service analytics adoption enabling business users to create insights while maintaining data accuracy and security standards
• Implement enterprise semantic layer and common business definitions across all visualization platforms
• Lead data literacy programs and training initiatives to scale analytical capabilities across the organization

Organizational Leadership & Innovation

• Build and lead high-performing organization of 40+ professionals including BI architects, visualization developers, data analysts, and platform administrators
• Foster center of excellence for visualization best practices, advanced analytics techniques, and emerging BI technologies
• Drive innovation in augmented analytics, embedded intelligence, and next-generation visualization capabilities
• Establish strategic partnerships with technology vendors and industry leaders to maintain competitive advantage in enterprise analytics

Business Impact & Performance Management

• Deliver measurable business value through enterprise analytics initiatives driving revenue growth, cost optimization, and operational efficiency
• Establish KPIs and success metrics for BI platform adoption, user engagement, and business impact across all business units
• Manage substantial technology budget ($5M+) optimizing total cost of ownership across multi-platform BI environment
• Lead enterprise-wide analytics transformations ensuring seamless user experience and business continuity
