Director, Consulting Strategy

About the Role:

Amex GBT Consulting is the industry leading consultancy specializing in managed travel, providing broad travel and expense management related solutions to GBT clients. Amex GBT Consulting utilizes industry leading talent, technology, and data to deliver unique and differentiated value to clients.

This is an exciting role with the objective of defining and implementing a Strategic plan for Amex GBT Consulting, positioning our business for sustained growth, and cementing our position as the Industry Thought Leader for travel and expense management.

We are looking for an individual who will be able to balance the creation of strategies and solutions that will deliver on the organic growth aspirations of our business whilst strengthening client relationships. In parallel the individual will be tasked to define a long-term vision for Amex GBT Consulting, our value proposition, our practice lines and our industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee the execution of the go-forward strategy for Consulting; focused on creating value for clients and driving significant growth.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to help shape Consulting’s value proposition.

Lead and Evolve Consulting’s practice lines; ensuring we have innovative leading solutions that address an ever-evolving industry landscape anticipating new client needs, ones which support revenue growth and a positive customer experience as measured by client satisfaction and NPS scores.

Support the continuous provision of data driven insights and unique perspectives to secure Consulting’s position as the industry thought leader.

Leverage key stakeholders (including Marketing and Sales) to establish and maintain the provision of Consulting value propositions and deliverables within critical commercial mediums such as Statements of Work and Practice Line pitch collaterals. (

Build, Develop and Grow a talented team including upskilling, training, talent management. Implement a culture where curiosity, ideation and innovation are at the forefront of our teams thinking,

Represent Amex GBT and Consulting at key industry events and lead our response to media enquiries on key industry and customer trends.

Contribute to the change management process associated with the Consulting’s transformation and the evolution to our operating model. This includes a strong focus on team engagement, collaboration, and culture.

Ensure Consulting meets and exceeds it’s KPIs (Shareholder, Customer & Employee)

Key Qualifications:

Extensive Consultancy experience globally, within or outside of the travel sector

Strategy and Commercial (Sales, Client management) experience; preferably within an industry linked to the travel sector

Demonstrated ability to understand broad issues and capitalize on global market conditions impacting customers’ and industry travel program, along with strong knowledge of the marketplace, is required.

Excellent business and financial acumen and the proven ability to drive results and achieve targets are required.

Proven innovative problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills are required

Strong project management skills with a proven ability to drive and affect change is required

Strong negotiation skills are a must, including the ability to handle objections and achieve mutually beneficial solutions

Experience in managing change management projects would be a distinct advantage

Strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to delivering business solutions

Ability to take and implement tough decisions for the wider good of the business and our clients

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Ability to influence and lead high performing cross-functional teams; fostering a collaborative environment

The US national annual base salary range for this position is from $100,000 to $200,000.  The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role.  Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.

In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Award plan, which rewards participants based on company and individual performance and is also eligible
