Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced senior Data Engineer to provide support for our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Park/Patuxent River, MD.
You will work in the Readiness Data Analysis Branch (AB36400), Readiness & Fleet Analytics Division, Logistics Department, Naval Air Warfare Center-Aircraft Division (AD). Readiness Data Analysis is responsible for providing resources to support team members in the delivery of all Integrated Logistics Support elements by providing, maintaining, and developing the necessary logistics information systems and tools. The department is also responsible for the definition, documentation and implementation of information requirements and information technology solutions for Naval Aviation maintenance and logistics worldwide. As the Senior Data Engineer, you should have experience identifying methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract and interpret findings from varied structured and unstructured data sets.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing data extraction and transformations to improve data reliability and quality
- Utilizing past experiences to identify and troubleshoot potential issues, ensuring smooth data operations
- Advising team members in analyzing relevant data and assessing alternatives
- Provide effective solutions to complex technical challenges, applying technical competence to understand and resolve issues.
- Develop high-performance ingestion pipelines to a Big Data platforms, ensuring consistent and reliable data flows
- Experience with ETL tools to develop, architect, and deploy scripts for processing data into usable data formats for analysis
- Develop algorithms and/or tools to support data manipulation and processing as well as using data visualization techniques to articulate findings
- Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
- Integrating diverse raw data sources to construct comprehensive datasets
- Collaborate with data scientists on various projects
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
You would be a great fit if you have…..
- Bachelor's degree in engineering/data science/mathematics/statistics or related area from an accredited 4-year school with at least 7 years of experience or a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of experience
- Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
- Knowledge of programming languages (SQL, Python, or R)
- Demonstrated experience in automation and scripting
- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn through various resources
- Knowledge of data visualization in Tableau
- Understanding of the responsibilities and duties of a data engineer, as well as established industry standards/best practices
- Contribute as a team member to testing, QA, and documentation of data pipelines and systems
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to work with little or no supervision

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.Apply for this role
