Job Description
Small Molecule Analytical Research and Development (SMARD) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist -Microbiologist to join the growing Microbiology Center of Excellence (COE). Based at our company's Headquarters in Rahway NJ, this position is responsible for supporting the full company's Portfolio which includes small molecule, biologics and vaccines.
Responsibilities include supporting the rapidly growing pipeline via collaboration with stakeholders for various projects, routine testing, validations, and implementation of alternate micro methods.
Required education:
BS degree in microbiology, biology, biological sciences or related field with 7+ years work experience
MS degree in microbiology, biology, biological sciences or related field with 4+ years work experience
PhD degree in microbiology, biology, biological sciences or related field with 0+ years work experience
Required Experience and Skills:
Extensive knowledge of basic microbiology and aseptic practices and alternate microbial methods all in a GMP environment
Knowledge and experience with manufacturing and product testing
Experience in leading and supporting quality investigations and change management.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organizational skills to multi-task with a Desire and willingness to learn, contribute and lead.
Track-record of independent problem-solving.
Applying microbiology expertise as a subject matter expert for quality control
Interacting with internal and external partners to foster collaborations and actively contribute to the continuing establishment of the Micro CoE
Ability to think logically and be proactive under pressure
Effective communicator and deep technical expertise in science, to be able to share and communicate that knowledge through training of analysts
Additional Expectations:
Contribute creativity to help in solving complex problems
Directly contributes to experimental design, execution and data interpretation for projects via individual contributions
Represents the functional area on a working group team
Understands the need of the project,larger team and drives innovative with direction
Training of team members for GMP testing
Able to troubleshoot problems, takes a broader perspective to identify innovative solutions
Cultivates and leverages working relationships with stakeholders within department as well as across the organization
Directly contributes to objectives for projects via individual contributions with direction
Ability to travel to the West Point, PA site as needed
Author SOPs, protocols and reports including method transfers.
