Occupational Health Nurse (LPN)

Job Summary:
Assist in the day-to-day activities related to the Employee Health Services including work with sitewide Emergency Response Team, as well as external health care providers, promote overall health and wellness of employees throughout Muscle Shoals operations, and manage cases related to occupational injury and disease.
Responsibilities:

Under medical direction and following prescribed standing orders perform a variety of invasive and non-invasive therapies including but not limited to assessment and evaluation of the ill and injured, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, administration of drugs, agents and solutions, administer oxygen, application of dressing and bandages, control of shock, and immobilization of fractures.

Perform a variety of emergency medical treatment services at the basic and advanced life support levels.

Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical

procedures to be followed.

Adhere to and follow all policies and procedures concerning safety and contamination by
-
bloodborne pathogens. Teach bloodborne pathogen classes as needed.

Analyze results of annual testing for each employee and follow-up as needed.

Put away supplies and restock exam rooms. Take inventory of supplies.

Maintain monthly checks on oxygen canisters, AED devices, and supplies on Car 5
-
Assist with workers’ compensation claims from date of injury until MMI/PPI, working closely with the CSTM case manager, company appointed legal representatives, insurance carriers, and CSTM North American Insurance Manager.

Oversee compliance of annual physical testing of employees meeting the requirements set forth in regulatory or site-specific standards.

Assist in the development of employee wellness programs and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Muscle Shoals Wellness Center.

Provide job analysis and physical capabilities and requirements as needed for external healthcare provider to facilitate return to work of injured employees.

Review, implement, and apply Muscle Shoals healthcare policies and procedures.

Attend to medical emergencies and non-emergent care of Constellium employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors

Identify potential health or occupational hazards.

Assist Human Resources in the management of short/long term disability claims applications.

Maintain current training and education related to the field of occupational health.

Maintain an active license as a Licensed Practical Nurse with Alabama Board of Nursing

Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
LPN licensed in State of Alabama

Occupational health experience (preferred)
-
Ability to develop a rapport with patients, family members, co-workers, physicians and other professionals.
-
Able to remain calm and professional during times of critical need. Ability to easily assess conditions and implement appropriate intervention.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and establish appropriate priority
-
Proficiency in MS-Office Products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) a plus

Use problem solving capabilities to supervise indirect reports, care for employees, and assist managers of other departments with medical related issues pertaining to employees within each department.

Provide expertise and support of clinical staff and partnership with Employee Health Services Manager to assure compliance with policies and procedures related to clinical occupational health operations. This includes worksite injury/illness, triage and treatment, workers’ compensation case management.

Perform medical testing including vision testing, urine collection, blood collection, spirometry, respirator surveillance and fit testing, injections, and basic first aid.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support program development.

Develop reports including health & wellness center metrics, injury/incident log, return to work, and workers’ compensation.

Promote wellness activities at the Constellium Health and Wellness Center.

Correspond with healthcare providers regarding employee return to work, ability to work safely, and other specific problems/complaints as they arise.

Represent the company for work/comp litigated claims during depositions, mediations, and trials.
