Job Description:
Job Summary
This position requires a diverse level of knowledge and experience. It is different from a Maintenance Manger position in that it requires skill in multiple crafts. The position directs an Electrician Master, Plumbing Master, HVAC Mechanic, and Controls Master Mechanic. In addition, the position is responsible for maintenance and operation of boilers, chillers, and other key mechanical equipment necessary for operation of a large medical facility. Ability to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on all systems included in the School of Veterinary Medicine Complex is critical to success in this position.
Job Responsibilities
Directs and works with, as required, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Control Foreman to maintain, repair, troubleshoot and replace the air handling equipment. The system consist of over 40 air handlers. Particular attention placed on maintaining ventilation requirement to be assigned laboratory safety systems.-50%
Directs and works with, as required, Electrician Master in the troubleshooting and repair of electrical circuits; electrical distribution system; lighting; the preventative maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. This position ensures that all work is performed in accordance with relative electrical codes. -10%
Direct and works with, as required, Plumber Master to maintain, repair, troubleshoot and replace plumbing systems consisting of waste disposal and hot and cold water distribution throughout the hospital. Ensures work is done with professionalism and remains code compliant. -10%
Directs and works with, as required, Controls Master Mechanic to maintain, repair, troubleshoot and replace the variety of controls involved in air quality, security, operations, etc.-10%
Responsible for administrative duties related to the above tasks such as filing time sheets for payroll, approving leave, initiating disciplinary actions, setting priorities, setting schedules, and employees performance evaluation.-10%
Maintains budgetary control for departmental budget which includes delineating overtime expenditures, purchasing supplies, and required repair job specific replacement parts, and subcontracting repairs required.-10%
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR
Completion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus three years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance; OR
Eighteen semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade or building maintenance; or in road or bridge construction or maintenance.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
In accordance with PS-18 this position maybe required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.
Ability to work in all weather conditions. Ability to lift 50 pounds, be capable of walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
