A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Provide technical leadership through a products full development lifecycle, from early stage research to implementation.
- Work with marketing strategy to keep track of current business roadmaps and industry trends, and their applicability to product development activities.
- Understand and support system engineering activities, including requirements definition and total systems solutions that acknowledge technical and business constraints.
- Contribute to early stage rapid concept development, prototype and test iterations with cross-functional teams.
- Oversee the regulated development processes and standards for risk management, usability, and safety to ensure system design and documentation meet relevant safety and regulatory standards globally.
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detailed concept study plans to translate customer requirements into hardware and software solutions.
- Performs technical planning for cross-functionally impacting activities like integration, verification and validations, and project roadmaps.
- Understand, evaluate, and communicate technical development maturity.
- Work with engineers to develop an understanding of the technological underpinnings of system architecture and detailed design.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
- Track and communicate status of deliverables.
TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

May have deep knowledge of project management.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
