In this role, you’ll operate a motor grader to spread and level dirt and gravel to final grade specifications. You’ll work with a team on projects big and small, playing an integral part as we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled finish blade/motor grader operator, with experience working on projects of all sizes from parking lots to major roadways.

 

Wage Scale: Hourly base rate of $17.21-36.41/hr w/ potential for overtime.

Note: This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Starting wage will be based on hours worked and Union Status under the applicable CBA. Wages including overtime wages may also be specified by applicable CBA, Davis-Bacon, Prevailed, or other federal, state, or local contracts.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Safe, efficient, and proper operation of grader to level and distribute dirt and/or crushed rock from land preparation to constructing roads, driveways and parking lots and/or job site grading.
  • Make adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade and finished cross section of material.
  • Communicate with Project Manager/Foreperson as to the daily job specification.
  • Discuss with supervisor the anticipated production, type of materials being moved, number of trucks, etc.
  • Conduct daily pre-start up procedures, ensuring equipment is in good operating condition (check fluid levels, inspect, clean and lubricate equipment, etc.).
  • Complete Equipment and Vehicle Condition Report daily, noting odometer readings, equipment hours, needed repairs, etc.
  • Keep time and material records.
  • Travel to and from various locations.
  • Effectively communicate to ground personnel, truck drivers, and supervisors.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Highly skilled in the operation of a finish blade/motor grader on both small and large projects, from sub grade to finish.
  • Must be a current member in good standing of Local Operators #302 or have the ability to join prior to 4/1/2024.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, site specifications, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing. Per RCW 49.44.240 this position has been identified by the employer as safety sensitive and will be subject to an employer-required pre-employment drug screening that includes testing for nonpsychoactive cannabis metabolites.
