Job Description:

Accounting Manager

To manage the operations of the Accounting department under the guidance of Controller

EXPECTATION FOR ALL EMPLOYEES

POSITION SUMMARY

To manage the operations of the accounting department under the guidance of Controller

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the operations and staff within the accounting department including accounts payable, payroll and general accounting.
  • Serves as a role model, coaching and motivating staff in appropriate customer service behaviors and hospital values
  • Assists with documentation of processes and training of accounting staff
  • Conducts detailed review and signoff of General Ledger, fixed assets and other accounting records
  • Reviews various journal entries and documentation.  Monitors and initiates corrections to General Ledger system, and performs other routine accounting functions
  • Coordinates and supports month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Oversees the preparation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements with the assistance of accounting staff
  • Ensures quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting

EXPERIENCE

  • Approximately 4+ years related work experience, preferably in a hospital setting 
  • Experience with Workday preferred

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA or MBA preferred)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience using accounting software systems, spreadsheets and word processing systems
  • Applies advanced accounting techniques in order to evaluate existing procedures for recording financial transactions and recommends methods for reducing time and cost of accounting operations
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars
  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and statistics in order to prepare monthly financial statements and reconcile accounts at a level normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a variety of internal contacts as well as outside service providers 
  • Systems knowledge and usage exposure to ensure ongoing high data integrity for all financial and statistical information maintained or distributed from accounting systems
