Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a full-time Custodial Worker 1 positions for the Joe Crowley Student Union. **This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.** This position will be responsible for the interior and exterior custodial clean-up and set-up; perform maintenance including minor carpentry, hanging of items on walls, furniture repairs, painting, minor electrical, and plumbing; assist with inventory control; load and unload deliveries; respond to security, safety alarms/calls and emergencies as needed; other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and six (6) months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR
Six (6) months of general work experience and six (6) months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR
Six (6) months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
This position requires the ability to read, interpret and follow written and oral instructions.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Friday through Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 21
*This position is paid an additional 5% shift differential.
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
