Job Description
At the plant level, qualified Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) facilitators support value stream leaders and management with the practical implementation of BPS principles and methods. The CPI plant facilitators act as direct advisors to the value stream leader and plant management. They provide support for implementing and adhering to BPS standards, improving BPS maturity, and moderating System CIP Workshops and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Drive achievement of BPS maturity targets for the Value Stream
- Lead the improvement process in order to reach the planned BPS maturity with sustainable results for the area; includes planning of strategies, regular reviews, and workshop facilitation in the related areas.
- Coach value stream organization in the BPS system approach and ensure the usage of standards daily and for every System CIP project.
- Support the development of the BPS Vision for the area.
- Support use of Daily Leadership Routines to ensure teams are developing in their use of the routines and problem solving.
- Participate in plant and value stream level projects for BPS Maturity development (such as implementation updated 5S standards, DLR processes, KPI tree development for Value Stream KPIs, I4.0 improvements to enable Value Stream improvements, etc.).
- Promote and support the implementation of the pull principle and leveling initiatives in manufacturing & material inventory areas.
- Coordinate and follow-up on appropriate BPS qualifications and training for value stream members.
- Support Value Stream Leader in System CIP Process
- Coordinate Value Stream Mapping and KPI development and tracking in support of System CIP process.
- Coordinate preparations for and facilitate System CIP Workshops.
- Ensure there are System CIP projects from Source, Make, and Deliver topics each quarter in each Value Stream, and that projects include quality, manufacturing, and logistics topics.
- Coach project leaders on following the A3 and Point CIP Systematic and in utilizing the MyMeasures tool for project tracking.
- Verify completion of process confirmation using appropriate templates.
- Track project completion and escalate to Value Stream Leadership if projects are not meeting timelines and objectives.
- Coordinate monthly Value Stream Design Reviews for project updates.
- Support Value Stream development for BPS Maturity Assessment
- Understand BPS Assessment topics and rating system (supported by ChP/BPS).
- Lead the completion of bi-annual Value Stream BPS self-assessments.
- Coordinate and ensure completion of Value Stream BPS cross-assessments.
- Manage ongoing tracking of KPI metrics and status to target, as well as reporting as part of the BPS assessment process; escalate to Value Stream Leader if there is a KPI slip that will impact the assessment score.
- Manage BPS Assessment OPL and support value stream in closing open items.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (engineering or related technical field) and at least 3 years of experience
- Understanding of lean manufacturing systems and concepts (ideally BPS)
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Project planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet established targets
- Strong computer skills including
- Experience in high volume/technology manufacturing processes within the automotive industry preferred
- Experience with quality systems preferred
- Ability to travel (including internationally) for benchmarking and IPN activities
