Position Summary

Mt. Bachelor's Nordic Lodge Staff have the incredible job of connecting guests with the opportunity to have a great day in our Nordic area. Lodge Staff provide outstanding guest service to all Nordic rental and retail guests through friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive ticket sales, lesson registrations, equipment outfitting, and retail sales.  This front-line service position is often uninterrupted and requires the ability to remain calm and effective during busy times. Primary duties include greeting guests, selling trail passes and Nordic lessons, providing trail and equipment information, operating the point-of-sale system, handling cash, accurately sizing guests with equipment, performing basic ski maintenance and base preparation, and selling technical clothing and accessories. 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Perform Opening Duties

• Open the Computer workstation. Load cash drawer (verify) and ticket printer. 

• Assist in snow shoveling/ice chipping, splitting, and stacking firewood, and maintaining the fire. 

Trail Pass Sales

• Perform outstanding customer service while operating software to sell trail passes and rentals to guests. 

• Answer a wide variety of questions, provide maps and information, and answer phone calls regularly. 

• Correctly and efficiently enroll guests into ski lessons and programs. 

Rental/ Shop Tech 

• Correctly size guests with boots, skis, and poles. Ensure equipment is returned. 

• Maintain a clean and organized work area. 

• Inspect equipment for needed repairs or waxing. 

• Provide prompt turnaround on customer waxes & work orders. 

• Show proficiency in all aspects of tuning & repair of ski equipment. 

Merchandise 

• Develop and maintain a high level of product knowledge and utilize it in sales situations. 

• Assist guests with questions, product selection, and concerns. 

• Ensure all merchandise is properly security tagged.   

• Keep merchandise displays neat and sized.  

• Maintain inventory.  

• Monitor fitting room use.

Secondary Function   

• Check trail passes at the ticket gate and out on the trails. Clean high-use lodge spaces, including restrooms, cafe seating, cubbies, carpets, and employee work and lounge spaces.

• Assist with Nordic Center Events and Races in roles including crowd control, ticket checking, course monitor, aid station management, tour guide, activity instructor, etc.

Primary source of ticket sales and retail assistance. Should possess strong knowledge of retail offerings and be confident and effective in sales techniques to move the entire inventory in seasonal operation.
