About the team
As a Database Engineer, you’ll join a highly skilled team of Site Reliability, Security, Data Administration, and Production Engineering disciplines using AWS services. Database Engineers are responsible for keeping data systems that support all end-user Angi services and other production systems running smoothly 24/7. Database Engineers apply a mix of data engineering, administration, and software development disciplines to automate a range of data management work including provisioning data stores, managing uptime, data integrity, data refresh, disaster recovery, self-healing and alerting, and data reporting.
This position will report to the Senior Manager, Data Systems & Reliability, and has the opportunity to work remotely. We’re looking for someone to join us immediately.
What you’ll do
- Provide configuration and maintenance support for production and development environments in Oracle 19C, automating as much as possible (typical database maintenance operations)
- Manage multiple projects and tasks including 24/7 on-call participation, prioritization, planning, change management, detailed runbooks, and documentation
- Assist application developers with query creation, optimization, tuning, and related function
- Identify performance trends and opportunities, and deploy proactive corrective measures to minimize downtime
- Work closely with the Database and Development teams to ensure data infrastructure standards are followed and architecture patterns are aligned with the requirements
- Leverage subject matter and technical expertise to provide leadership, mentoring, and strategic influence across the organization
- Lead in designing database architecture, reviewing design, building and troubleshooting data systems, as well as digging deep into the root of an issue and providing solutions
- Stay on top of industry and technology trends and share your knowledge and expertise
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; MS in Computer Science is preferred
- 4+ years of experience managing Oracle 19c development and production environments required
- Strong technical knowledge of Oracle configuration and best practices
- Ability to commit to a 24/7 on-call rotation required
- 2+ years of experience working within a Cloud infrastructure environment, preferably AWS
- 2+ years experience with managing Postgres or MySQL databases (preferably in the cloud)
- Experience designing complex data ecosystems and leading other engineers through implementation
- Perform Server Maintenance, release activities and storage management
- Development experience in any language or shell command language for scripting
- Database Engineering/Administration or production infrastructure and operations background
- Migration of databases from one platform to another highly preferred
- Experience in Oracle Data Guard configuration, container and pluggable databases, MSSQL databases and NetApp CVO storage management highly preferred

Compensation & Benefits
- The salary band for this position ranges $110,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience and performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as cost of living.
- This position will be eligible for a competitive year end performance bonus & equity package.
