PRIMARY DUTIES
1. Act as central contact for HR related issues in assigned areas, including but not limited to benefits, recruitment, employment, etc.
2. Develop and maintain professional and collegial relationships with peers, employees, leaders, etc. to attain “trusted advisor” status and serve as a consultant on HR related matters.
3. Ensure that all federal, state, and local laws affecting HR-related functions and compliance and leadership matters are proactively managed, including but not limited to EEO.
4. Ensure a proactive employee relations environment including employee advocacy, effective communication and compliance with policies and laws that ensure fair treatment.
5. Coach, counsel, and guide leadership through the execution of employee performance, leadership concerns, and appropriate disciplinary action processes including separation. Keep leaders advised of potential problem areas and recommend and/or implement solutions as appropriate.
6. Collaborate on conflict resolution, mediations, and providing consultation on the process and outcome of employee relations issues while maintaining an appropriate balance between employee and leadership advocacy.
7. Assist with investigating incidents, employee and/or student complaints consistent with policies and laws and maintain records regarding employee disciplinary actions and investigations.
8. Advise leadership and staff on unionized employee contract policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
9. Guide leadership through the talent acquisition process, including screening, hiring, and selection; work collaboratively with leadership to design job descriptions and complete hiring approvals needed within their area.
10. Conduct exit interviews, assess employee feedback, evaluate the data, and make recommendations for improvements.
11. Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, public administration, or related field.
Minimum of three- five (3-5) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
Knowledge of human resources policies, procedures, and leadership practices, involving recruitment, employment, terminations, and contract administration.
Understanding of local, state, and federal laws, regulations and standards pertaining to public sector labor relations.
Ability to maintain calm demeanor and approach in difficult and trying situations.
Experience using various computer software applications (Microsoft Office, HRIS systems, etc).
Experience working under pressure and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail, organization, and ability to prioritize and manage a wide variety and high quantity of tasks at any given time.
Problem solving ability.
Ability to lead project teams and keep projects on track.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be able to protect and safeguard sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Master’s degree in related field.
PHR or SHRM certification.
Experience with the WorkDay platform.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
Salary: Minimum starting salary of $60,000.
