We are looking for someone energetic and passionate about working with kids to join the team as a Childcare Director. As a Childcare Director, you'll lead campers on a journey of fun, friendship, and adventure. For the months leading up to camp launch, you would be responsible for playing a part in licensing and setting up the program for about 10-15 hours per week.
JOB STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt
PAY: $20.00 per hour
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Specialist:
- Support the Executive Director in navigating the licensing process leading up to camp launch.
- Provide additional administrative assistance to help set up and establish the program.
Activity Extraordinaire:
- Assist with hands-on activities and exploration!
- Get creative with games, challenges, and scavenger hunts that keep kids on their toes.
Friendship Architect:
- Create a supportive and inclusive environment where campers feel like they belong.
- Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and lots of high-fives!
Master of Fun & Games:
- Organize epic camp-wide events like talent shows, themed parties, and crazy costume contests.
- Show off your arts and crafts skills with DIY projects and creative workshops.
Safety Superhero:
- Keep a watchful eye on campers to ensure their safety during all activities.
- Be prepared to handle any bumps, bruises, or bug bites with a smile and a band-aid.
Camp Enthusiast:
- Lead by example with enthusiasm, positivity, and a can-do attitude.
Additionally, you will:
- Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies
- Communicate daily with parents and family members via the Playground App.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates must have the following:
- Be 21 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED, or qualifying documentation from a comparable educational entity; i.e., A Kentucky Home School certificate; transcript that shows date of graduation; a document verifying graduation from another country; a letter from a Board of Education verifying completion. A Commonwealth Child Care Credential does not meet the requirements for qualifying a director.
- TB Skin Test or Health Professional Statement free from TB.
All candidates must have one of the following options:
- Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education and Development.
- Associate's degree or higher in a field other than Early Childhood Education and Development, including a degree in pastoral care and counseling. Also, must have 12 hours of child development training (may use TRIS record as proof) OR three years of verifiable full-time paid experience working directly with children in a school based program following Dept. of Education guidelines, an early childhood development program such as Head Start or a licensed or certified child care program (certified home provider). Also, please note that this requires “verifiable” full time paid experience; i.e. must have written letters from past employers stating that they worked in a full time position directly with children from start date to last date of employment.
- A director’s credential in Early Childhood Development And, must have one year of verifiable full-time paid experience working directly with children in a school based program following Dept. of Education guidelines, an early childhood development program such as Head Start or a licensed or certified child care program (certified home provider).
- A child development associate (CDA) Also, must have one year of verifiable paid experience working directly with children in a school based program following Dept. of Education guidelines, an early childhood development program such as Head Start or a licensed or certified child care prog
