This position is part of the staff in the Business department and reports to the Accounts Receivable Manager.
Job Summary
As part of the Business Office team, the Cashier will work with all business office departments as needed to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all cashiering functions and activity. The cashier works directly with students and is often the primary financial contact with students.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work the cashier’s window, answer phones, receipt payments, prepare/verify daily deposits to send to bank
- Open safe, count cash drawers and safe, and keep accurate balance records
- Assist students, staff, and faculty at the cashier’s window with payment and/or account questions
- Assists in answering the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette
- Open and process mail
- Coordinate with KC Police Department on parking citations
- Coordinate with Financial Aid, Registrar, and the Student Accounts Coordinator on student account issues
- Assist with student account related tasks including refunds, drop processes, and holds
- Additional hours required during registration, weekend housing move-in, and occasional fund-raising events.
- Maintain records on past due accounts sent to collection agency
- Process unpaid drops
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration; significant related experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- A minimum experience of three years in a similar position working with money
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and ten-key by touch.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to keep accurate records, including an accounting of cash drawer/safe, while working in high-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Must be self-motivated and detail oriented
- Must be organized, expedient, tactful, even-tempered, and able to maintain student confidentiality

- Compensation for this 12-month position is $30,918.
