Job Summary: Directs and administers the overall activities of the Environmental Services, Laundry, Linen, Security, Switchboard and Valet departments. Works closely with Administration and other Department Heads in the daily operation of the hospital. Supervises and works with the Environmental Services Lead Supervisor, Supervisors, Secretary and other employees of the departments.
Essential Job Duties:
- Administers and directs the daily programs of the departments.
- Attend scheduled and unscheduled meetings.
- Work with Environmental Services Lead Supervisor, Supervisors, Secretary, and other employees of the departments.
- Plan, evaluate, and schedule Environmental Services work to be performed throughout the hospital.
- Prepare and administer evaluations and counseling.
- Prepare budgets, keep records, and make reports, as related to the departments.
- Meet with Supervisors regularly to discuss daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term work activities and objectives.
- Maintains communications between workers of all shifts in order to ensure smooth operation and continuity of work.
- Evaluate, develop, and direct new programs, methods and techniques to improve the overall performance quality.
- Responsible for the selection and decision to purchase all equipment and supplies in the departments.
- Prepare memorandums, letters, counseling and other information.
- Work with Administration and other Department Heads in the daily operation of the hospital as related to the departments.
- Attends meetings and seminars both internally and externally to further personal managerial skills and professional knowledge.
- Hold monthly informational meetings with all employees to review board agenda items and to discuss departmental or hospital-wide activities or concerns.
- Working knowledge of the Security bar code system.
- Establish the quality improvement initiatives for the department and provides quarterly reports to Hospital-wide P.I.
- Manages and coordinates the hospitals Visitor/Patient Valet Parking program.
- Participates in Environment of Care Tours.
Secondary Job Duties:
- Make quality inspections of the departments.
- Review and revise manuals for the departments.
- Assist in planning, preparing, and giving of in-service training programs.
- Monitor, check, and verify API system reports.
- Participate in the hospital's ongoing decision-making process.
- Interview personnel for jobs within the departments.
- Work on various committees within the hospital as requested by Administration.
- Appointments with salesmen and technicians.
- Attend and participate in Hospital-Wide PI Committee. Report on Departmental PI activities.
- Order supplies utilizing the Oracle Purchasing System.
- Develop awareness level of the hospital's Mission, Vision and Quality Statements for all employees.
- Working knowledge of equipment utilized in the laundry.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Supervises: Services Supervisors, Laundry Supervisor, Environmental Services Assistants and Attendants, Laundry/Linen Assistants and Attendants, Security, Valet Parking Attendants, and Switchboard Operators.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education – Bachelor's degree required, master’s degree preferred in hospitality health care, business, or equivalent. Become certified as a Registered Environmental Services Executive.
Experience – Preferred 3-5 years Director or Manager level experience particularly for management of staff.
