As a Leading Hand Gardener, you’ll be at the forefront of our grounds maintenance and landscaping operations. You’ll supervise a dedicated team, ensuring high standards across public spaces, parks, and road corridors in Whanganui, including Queens Park, Virginia Lake Reserve, Bason Botanic Gardens, Moutoa Gardens, Kowhai Park, and streetscapes across town.
In addition to the above you will:
Organise and coordinate daily operational activities according to contract requirements and client expectations.
Operate and ensure proper care of gardening equipment and machinery in line with company policies.
Support the induction, training, and development of new and existing team members.

We’re looking for someone with:
Current full class 1 licence – ability to drive manual transmission preferred
Proven experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture
Sound knowledge of gardening tools and machinery.
Level 3 Horticultural qualification or equivalent
Excellent plant knowledge with proven work history in a public garden environment.
Ability to prioritise tasks, solve problems, make decisions and take responsibility.
