Gas Construction Crew Supervisor
The Gas Construction Crew Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating work to support the safe and efficient construction, maintenance, and operation of gas infrastructure. In this position, you will lead and develop gas apprentices, pipefitters, pipefitter specialists, and equipment operators while overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas mains and service lines. You will also ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, safety requirements, and company standards. Crew Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise gas construction crews and job sites, providing team members with technical guidance and job oversight
- Provide honest feedback to employees on performance, providing coaching, and employee evaluations
- Lead the gas construction crew in emergency response, gas leaks, renewals, or new installation of gas mains and service lines
- Ensure compliance with all gas laws, standards, regulations, and safety procedures
- Inspect worksites and verify personnel, equipment, and supply requirements
- Prepare and complete reports, paperwork, and job packets in a neat, legible, accurate, and timely manner
- Participate in and provide oversight, training, mentoring, and coaching for employees
- Demonstrate computer savvy and technical aptitude to learn and utilize various applications and software programs, including documentation for the Asset Failure App, service cards, gas main as-built maps, Visual Pipe Inspection App, and Gas Clearance App
- Communicate effectively and regularly with customers, contractors, and employee stakeholders to ensure alignment and strong working relationships
- Must be proficient in two or more programs of work (Leak Repair, 150 psi steel, DIMP Risk Projects, DIMP Main and Service Renewals, City and Customer Requests)
Experience Qualifications:
- Must have completed a Gas Pipefitter Apprenticeship (DOL or NDOL), or offer a minimum of four (4) years of experience installing and repairing gas mains and service lines
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a Journey Level Gas Pipefitter
- Experience as a Pipefitter Specialist or in a comparable role with equivalent skills and responsibilities is required
- The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, mentoring, and training employees while developing and building an effective team
- Operator Qualified
- Proficient in natural gas emergency response
- Demonstrated ability to lead a gas crew in at least two (2) programs of work
- Leak Repair
- 150 psi steel
- DIMP Risk Projects
- DIMP Main and Service Renewals
- City and Customer Requests
Licensing and Certification Requirements:
- Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements, or obtain the required license and endorsements within six (6) months of appointment. The CDL and all required endorsements must be maintained throughout employment in a supervisory position
- Equipment Certification
- Plastic Fusion Certification, including Electro Fusion and Butt Fusion
- Obtain and maintain the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) certification from Utilities
Emergency Callout and Standby Expectations:
- This position is designated as a first responder for emergencies. The successful candidate will need to be able to report to the nearest work center within 30 minutes and or make living arrangements while on standby to be able to do this. Standby will involve nights, weekends, and holidays
- The successful candidate will be required to pull stand-by, overtime, weekends, holidays, and 24-hour call-outs as businesses need demand. In addition, you will work in hazardous conditions and be prepared to work in inclement weather
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess for Heavy Work.
