Job Description
AECOM is actively growing the East Region Environmental Planning & Permitting (EPP) practice and is seeking a creative, highly talented Senior NEPA Project Manager within the Mid-Atlantic Environmental Planning & Permitting Department. The successful candidate will have experience overseeing NEPA projects for various federal clients. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM EPP specialists across the US to assist in project delivery.
For this opportunity, we will consider candidates in any of our Mid-Atlantic Regional offices including, but not limited to, the following: Germantown, MD; Cleveland, OH; Cincinnati, OH; Conshohocken, PA; Mechanicsburg, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Arlington, VA; Glen Allen, VA; and Norfolk, VA.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and perform consulting projects to scope, schedule, and budget, learning and applying AECOM’s project management systems and software. The candidate will accelerate through AECOM’s in-house Project Management certification program within the first year of employment.
- Serve as an interface with clients and regulatory personnel on complex projects and through business development initiatives.
- Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff.
- Coordinate, manage, and direct project field and data collection efforts.
- Perform client visits and field activities that require work outside the office and overnight travel.
- Develop, manage, and deliver business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and documents and report deliverables.
- Proactively enforce a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Heath & Safety within the team.
- Provide technical support to the EPP Department and individual Project Managers, and support inter-disciplinary business development activities.
- Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS + 8 years of experience of demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural resources, or an earth science-related field
- 8+ years of experience managing projects and teams to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to the nature of work US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in relevant field
- 10+ years industry experience, preferably with NEPA consulting for the Department of Defense (DoD) or other Federal clients.
- Specific and established experience in providing NEPA consulting services to Federal clients in multiple locations
- Existing, mature, and tested Client relationships with an ability to generate new work for the Team, Office, and Company
- Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations
- Strong experience with NEPA, including ability to manage projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface successfully with Clients.
- Thorough working knowledge of CWA, ESA, NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and other federal, state, and local regulations
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written (writing sample required)
- Strong working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
