Job Description

We've recently relaunched LinkedIn Learning as LinkedIn Learning Career Hub, expanding our enterprise product to help 35M+ employees across the globe explore career paths and make progress on their goals within their organization - while simultaneously helping employers develop their workforce to better navigate the impact of AI on how we all work.

Talent Mobility
As the engineering manager for the Talent Mobility team, you will lead strategic development and execution of a roadmap focused on connecting employees to internal opportunities like jobs and projects. In addition to our emergent internal jobs and project feature portfolios, you'll also be responsible for scaling our recently launched marquee enterprise featureset 'Talent Architecture Builder', which connects Career Hub with Employer HRIS data systems - allowing us to bring in the richness of employee data and LinkedIn's economic graph together to create rich, organizationally aware career advancement experiences for employees that are anchored in real world trends and data tailored to their organization.

Team details

  • Size and Composition: 10 full stack engineers ranging in level
  • Projects: E2E projects, you will drive full-stack builds (inclusive of AI) and partner with product, design, marketing, and other core business functions
  • AI Features: Opportunity matching with AI - this team is in the process of scaling AI in our features to offer stronger industry trend intelligence and richer personalization
  • Visibility: This team's initiatives drive core top-line business metrics that are visible at the VP+ level
  • Other: This team builds both 'admin' and 'end user' facing features, requiring a strong blend of Enterprise and Consumer skills

Responsibilities:

  • You will manage the performance and career development of a small team of engineers, and own significant parts of LinkedIn products that require design, architecture, and coding.
  • You will participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap.
  • You will be a role model and professional coach for engineers with a strong bias for action and focus on craftsmanship.
  • You will work with peers across teams to support and leverage a shared technical stack.
  • You will manage teams to scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, review code, and deliver with speediness and quality.
  • You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.
  • You will produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of management experience or 1+ year(s) of staff level engineering experience with management training
  • 5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering
  • Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (like Java/Python/C/C++/Scala/etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of hands-on software engineering/technical management and people management experience
  • 7+ years industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions. 
  • 5+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Python, Go, etc.
  • Experience in the design and development of performant, highly available, scalable web applications
  • Understanding of common performance patterns and anti-patterns in distributed systems
  • Successful track record of managing small teams of engineers to deliver
