The Role
Moderna is seeking a dynamic Product Line Director, Global Demand and Long-Range Planning, to lead demand forecasting and long-term planning across global markets. This role is essential for aligning product demand with production capabilities, optimizing supply chain efficiency, and addressing patient needs. The Director will take ownership of the entire demand and long-range planning process, driving the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of forecasting systems and tools.
In this capacity, the Director will also develop and execute the long-range planning strategy, ensuring a forward-looking view that extends beyond immediate operational needs. The Director will also oversee both Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE), ensuring that long-term strategic planning aligns with the company’s broader business objectives, while short-term demand and supply balance is maintained. The Director will also identify and implement improvements in both processes to increase agility, responsiveness, and cross-departmental collaboration.
By working closely with IT, supply chain, operations, and finance teams, the Director will ensure seamless integration of systems and processes, enabling better decision-making, visibility, and agility to support Moderna’s growth, long-range planning, and operational efficiency.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts for Moderna's product portfolio, incorporating market intelligence, historical data, and mathematical modeling.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial operations, finance, and manufacturing, to integrate demand planning with business planning cycles.
Lead the demand review component of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) & Sales and Operation execution (S&OE) processes, presenting analyses and recommendations to senior leadership.
Ability to articulate supply scenarios and production plans across stakeholders
Monitor market trends and changes in demand patterns, proactively adjusting forecasts and communicating potential impacts to supply chain and production planning.
Design a comprehensive long-range planning framework that aligns strategic goals with future demand forecasts, production capabilities, and market expansion initiatives.
Establish and maintain demand planning policies, procedures, and metrics to improve forecast accuracy and operational performance.
Drive continuous improvement in the demand planning process, leveraging advanced analytics and technology to enhance decision-making.
Manage a team of demand planning professionals, providing mentorship and development to build a high-performing team.
Engage with global affiliates to understand regional market dynamics and ensure local insights are reflected in the global demand plan.
Oversee the development of scenario planning and risk assessment to mitigate the impact of demand volatility on supply chain operations
Advocate for and implement best practices in demand planning, staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
Facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and forums to engage stakeholders and drive process improvements.
Community of Practice:
Establish and lead communities of practice to foster knowledge sharing and best practices in Site Supply Chain activities.

Planning Performance Metrics:
Define, track, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for demand planning processes.
Analyze performance data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Global Supply Chain Operations Automation and Touchless Planning:
Lead the demand implementation of automation and support global End to End touchless planning initiatives.
Evaluate and integrate advanced technologies to streamline processes and reduce manual intervention.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
A BS in Business, Supply Chain Management, Statistics, or a related field; MBA or Master's degree is preferred.
10+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain management within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industry.
